City of Bones

by johndo on Sep.30, 2009, under Uncategorized

City of Bones is a very good book. If you like Twilight then you will enjoy City of Bones. I can’t wait to read the second and third book. It is that good. :)   Clary, Jace, & Simon are very loveable characters and the book is filled with action that will keep you rivited to the story and in great anticipation of the next saga. I never thought I would like a book about demons, shadowhunters, and downworlders, but it is a very good book and one I would recommend. It is flying off the shelf, so come in and reserve City of Bones.

I don’t have a link to the New Moon trailer but I am sure you can search the Internet for the link. I am anxious for the movie in November. Can’t wait.  Until next time, go read a good book. Mrs. J.

Hey Shelbi

by johndo on Feb.20, 2009, under Uncategorized

Shelbi,

I agree with you about “The Host”. I loved it too.  I always love Stephenie Meyer’s characters in her stories. She makes them so loveable. I hated Ian at the beginning but by the end he was my FAVORITE character. I want you to read “The Declaration”. I thought it was a cool book too. It is about a longevity drug & how you can live forever or you can “opt out”. One of those that makes you think. Glad you wrote me & you need to write again.

New books in Library

by johndo on Dec.11, 2008, under Uncategorized

I just read “The Break-up Bible” by Melissa Kantor. I thought it was a great read about a young high school girl who has her heart broken by her boyfriend when he says “we should just be friends”. Her loving grandmother buys her “The Break-Up Bible” in hopes of getting her out of her slump.  It is a light-hearted read and it will make you empathize with the main character . Come on in & check it out.

“The Host” is another good read by Stephenie Meyer’s, the now famous “Twilight” author. This book was difficult for me to get into but I really enjoyed the read. It is about an alien invading a woman’s body and yet not being able to control the human heart & spirit. It is a very good love story, something Stephenie Meyer’s seems to have mastered in her novels. It is her first adult novel but I think mature high school students will enjoy the read, especially if you like Sci-Fi.

Twilight

by johndo on Nov.20, 2008, under Uncategorized

Well after much anticipation, the movie “Twilight” will finally premiere tonight. I hope it is as good as the book, but I am a little skeptical. I am going on Friday night to see it and I am trying to be open-minded about the movie because I know it won’t follow the book as closely as I would like. I think Stephenie Meyer has created some very likeable/loveable characters and it is easy to see why there is so much hype surrounding the movie and the actors & actresses. However, I had my own vision of how the characters looked before the movie debut so I think I will stick with what is in my own imagination. I am really sad though that I am finished with the books. I truly enjoyed Bella, Edward, Jacob, & all the Cullen clan. :)
