Hey guys its Ananda!

On October 27, 2009 my class and I went on a field trip to the Kimbell Art Museum. There were a lot of pretty paintings there! ) I saw one (on the bottom) and it was my favorite! It’s cool because when you’re far away you can tell it’s a Weeping Willow, but when you’re up close it just looks like a bunch of paint splattered everywhere (which is also a characteristic of many Impressionist paintings.) This painting was made in 1918-1919. The person that made it was from France and lived from 1840-1926.

Do you know who that person is? Well we’re going to have a game to see who can post first on this blog. The question is who is the person that created this painting? Whoever posts first will win a prize! But you’re not going to know what the prize is until you win!!

Hey it’s Martin I found this picture of an artist on the Internet and wanted to see if anybody could find out who he is? He is a famous Mexican artist and painted a lot of Mexican paintings! He is one of the most famous Mexican artist to be correct. So I hope everybody tries to participate and good luck.

Hey!! It’s Blog Boy agian! That last contest took a long time for ya’ll! Bailey finally got the correct answer and has recieved her prize.  Here is another contest for you guys! A cartouche is a hieroglyphic name plate or seal. 6th Graders learned about them at the Tutankhamun and the Golden Age exhibit last week. See who can translate this one into English??  First one to post the correct name wins a prize?

We also need some more 6th graders to comment on the King Tut exhibit.

The 6th graders have been learning about Surreal Art. Name two Surrealist Artists from the early years of Surrealism! The first student who gets the first and last name of two of these guys will win a prize. (spelling counts).
