Who am I? By Ananda

by B. Payne on Oct.30, 2009, under Art 2, Art Trivia Questions, Famous Art, For Those Who Want to Know More, Student Art

Hey guys its Ananda!

On October 27, 2009 my class and I went on a field trip to the Kimbell Art Museum. There were a lot of pretty paintings there! :) ) I saw one (on the bottom) and it was my favorite! It’s cool because when you’re far away you can tell it’s a Weeping Willow, but when you’re up close it just looks like a bunch of paint splattered everywhere (which is also a characteristic of many Impressionist paintings.) This painting was made in 1918-1919. The person that made it was from France and lived from 1840-1926.

Do you know who that person is? Well we’re going to have a game to see who can post first on this blog. The question is who is the person that created this painting? Whoever posts first will win a prize! But you’re not going to know what the prize is until you win!!

Hope to see lots of people posting!!!!!  :]]

Insanity in Artists? –Shane 8th Grade Computer Art–

by B. Payne on Mar.11, 2009, under Computer Art, Cool Art Links, Famous Art, Student Art

Why is it that some of the world’s greatest artists most always have sanity issues? Whether it be painters or poets each has a psychotic episode in which they create master pieces that are truly beautiful in a sort of creepy way. Many artists just absolutely explode your mind, their way of exiting this world falls in line with the same things their art work depicts! Take for instance, Vincent Van Gogh.

Starry night

Starry night

Vincent cut off his ear while making the most well known art in the world. His paintings are very somber, almost like his depression was shown through his art. He then attempted to kill himself but died two days after because of the bullet in his chest. And then Dezsö Czigány.

Dezso has a haunting self portrait, uses black, and only key colors to show his features. Try painting with the saddest memory you have, but be careful as to not go insane! :]

Paint us a picture, or write us a poem, and we will try to find someway to show or read your art to the school! :]]]

Jayden’s Blog-The Field Trip

by B. Payne on Feb.06, 2009, under 6th Grade Art, Famous Art, For Those Who Want to Know More

Last week, all art students in 6th grade went to the Amon Carter Art Museum. We saw different varieties of artwork. I’m sure everyone had an awesome time! This question is for the 6th graders. What was your favorite piece of artwork at the Amon Carter Art Museum and why?? Who created it? ( You can go to www.cartermuseum.org and click on “works of art” if you don’t remember the title or artist’s name.) My favorite was “Attention Company” by William Harnett!  The painting was so detailed. I think that the artist did great on the expression of the little boy. The crinkles in the newspaper hat, and the creases in the coat are so detailed!
