Skateboarding Art by Joe

by B. Payne on May.26, 2010, under Computer Art, Student Art

This art obviously has a lot of different, bright colors. That makes it very attractive. It’s consistency of different colors make it overwhelming and eye catching. It seems to show different characters who look small and fuzzy, submitting words like “yes!”, and so on. I found this picture at http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://ffee.files.wordpress.com/2009/06/deck_post_cup.jpg&imgrefurl=http://ffee.wordpress.com/2009/06/23/cup-of-great-coffee/&usg=__ToXR3j9daH2ibEbclklZFK6iQSE=&h=655&w=500&sz=153&hl=en&start=17&itbs=1&tbnid=4qiv4vMxGZym5M:&tbnh=138&tbnw=105&prev=/images%3Fq%3DSkateboarding%2BArt%26hl%3Den%26safe%3Dactive%26gbv%3D2%26tbs%3Disch:1

Samurai Art

by B. Payne on May.24, 2010, under Computer Art, Student Art

Hi, this is Taylor, one of Mr. Payne’s computer art students taking over the blog while he’s out. The art above is done by Bruce and his art is based on the time of the samurai from the years of 794-1185 A.D. I like this kind of art because it looks really cool and I like dragons and samurai. I also like ninjas. I like one of the paintings because you can see the texture. The first sketch is how the artist gets started on his paintings. The last two pictures show you how the artist uses sketching to do a painting. Do you like what kind of art I picked for the blog? Here is a link to Bruce’s website:

We’ll post some more detailed ones later.

POP ART – by Computer Art Students

by B. Payne on Mar.10, 2010, under Computer Art, Student Art

Pop Art was an art movement in the 1950s and 60s that used a lot of popular images in art. Celebrities like Marilyn Monroe and Elvis Presley were some that were used back then. We saw some originals when we visited the Modern Museum of Art in Ft Worth. The Computer Art Class created some Pop Art of their own in the computer lab. It’s a project Mr Payne found at http://www.artyfactory.com  Check it out. What celebrity would you chose??

Art in Labels???

by B. Payne on May.21, 2009, under Computer Art, Student Art

Have you ever looked at the art and design in can labels and packaging? There is more art there than you think. Graphic artists use art elements and creative design to get your attention and hopefully get your money when you buy the product. Look at labels on cans and product packaging. Look at the art and design in them. What label do you think really looks cool and why?? How have the designers used design principles and creativity??

The Computer Art Class just finished creating labels for their imaginary products. Some were pretty funny!! Here are a few of them. Let us hear what you think of them.

Perspective Drawings-Molly and Landry

by B. Payne on Apr.17, 2009, under Computer Art, For Those Who Want to Know More, Student Art

Below are examples of 1 and 2 point perspective drawings made by the 7th and 8th Grade Computer Art Class. Perspective drawings are drawings that appear as if they are 3-D. The whole drawing revolves around one or two vanishing points on the horizon. All the lines that are going into the distance goes to or from the point(s).This makes the objects appear like they are seen from one perspective.

This is a link for basic instructions on how to create a drawing in 1 or 2 point perspective.

If you would like to try one out, show Molly and Landry (or anyone in the Computer Art Class) and we will check it for you!

What Is The Meaning of Art? by TJ

by B. Payne on Apr.07, 2009, under Computer Art, For Those Who Want to Know More, Student Art

What is the meaning of art? The definition is “human effort to imitate, supplement, alter, or counteract the work of nature.” What were the cavemen doing at the time they made these works of art and why did they draw them?
